Maps and GPX routes of the quintessential Taiwan Cycling Route No. 1
When speaking about around-the-island in Taiwan, Cycling Route No. 1 is probably the first thing that springs to mind for many people.
Taiwan Cycling Route No. 1 is a major and government-planned around-the-island cycling route opened in December 2015. Primarily following Provincial Highways No. 1 and No. 9, the total length is about 939.5 kilometers (excluding railway connections) and it’s commonly known as the “Small Round-Island” route. Adding in the 25 branch routes and circular routes, which connects famous attractions such as Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, a “Large Round-Island” route is formed, covering a total distance of over 1200 kilometers.
